I often see people asking online where to find My Hero Academia merchandise while traveling in Tokyo and in Japan, so I’m going to start noting some recommendations on this blog.
First and foremost I recommend Animate shops and the official Shonen Jump stores as they almost always have a My Hero Academia section with some of the latest official merchandise. But of course there are other options!

If you are planning to stop by Akihabara you can find a lot of stores selling both second hand and new merchandise. One easy to check shop that generally has a great My Hero Academia selection is Volks Akihabara Hobby Tengoku!

Volks Akihabara Hobby Tengoku is located just a short walk from Akihabara Station and they have eight floors filled with anime, manga, and game merchandise. As of fall 2018 their My Hero Academia shelf was located on the third floor, right as you walk up the stairs. Most of their Shonen Jump related items are in the same area.
You can also find some My Hero Academia items on the rented shelves on the first floor, and they had a Midoriya & Bakugo paper craft item on sale on the second floor too.

Here are some photos from what their My Hero Academia section looked like in fall 2018! This is a totally different selection than what they had during summer 2018, so the items seem to change a lot.

Since they sell a mix of second hand and new stuff so you’re sure to find something you like– but watch out for the prices! Sometimes used merchandise is being sold with a significant markup because it’s no longer avaliable at official shops, was an exclusive item, was part of a “blind box” item series, etc. So be sure to check the prices before heading to the register.

As you can see they sell a wide variety of stuff: figures, keychains, stickers, can badges, acrylic stands, fans, towels, posters, trump cards, figures, and more…!

As mentioned above, as of fall 2018 most of their My Hero Academia merchandise was being sold on the 3rd floor. There are stairs located in the corner of the building and I believe there is an elevator as well.

When heading to the shop look out for their red awning and the figure-filled cases on their first floor!

If you find yourself with time to kill in Akihabara or are hoping to pick up some MHA/BNHA merchandise while in Tokyo, check them out! 🙂
